Why we stock it

Chipotle, lime, green capsicum and agave, which makes it a savoury spirit rather than a flavoured novelty. It reads smoky and vegetal rather than hot.

We stock it because it does something no other bottle here does. In a Bloody Mary or a Paloma it replaces three separate ingredients, and it changes what people assume flavoured vodka means.

Not a flavoured vodka in the usual sense. Karu vapour-infuses Mexican morita chipotle — smoked, dried jalapeño — along with Australian limes and agave syrup, so the character is distilled in rather than added afterwards.

Savoury and unmistakable: smoke and roasted pepper on the nose, then lime, green capsicum and a peppery warmth that sits somewhere between a spirit and a seasoning. It makes a remarkable bloody mary and a better spicy margarita than most tequilas. Not a neutral vodka, and not trying to be.
