The range

Tequila

Blanco, reposado, añejo and cristalino tequila, most of it 100% blue agave. Patrón and Don Julio from the Jalisco highlands, Espolón and El Jimador from Los Altos and Amatitán, the full 1800 range, and Jose Cuervo and Sierra for mixing.

The line that matters most in this category is 100% agave versus mixto. A mixto blends agave with other sugars and is built for volume drinks; 100% agave is what you want if the tequila is meant to taste of anything on its own. Both are listed here and each product page says which it is.

    Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila 700ml

We stock it because it is number three in ALM's national tequila segment with 8.18% share, up from fourth last year. Tequila is the fastest-moving spirit category and this is the workhorse in it.

  • Los Altos, Jalisco · Mexico

    Espolón Tequila Reposado

We stock it because nothing else we carry gives you 100% agave and barrel time at this money. If you make margaritas regularly and want to stop compromising, start here.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    Sierra Tequila Silver

We stock it because it is honest value and people know it on sight. If you are making a large round of margaritas rather than a considered one, this is the sensible bottle.

  • Amatitán, Jalisco · Mexico

    El Jimador Tequila Reposado

We stock it because it is the same sensible proposition as the Blanco with a little more weight, and because it is one of the few reposados at this price that is genuinely 100% agave.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    1800 Cristalino Tequila

We stock it because it is the most interesting thing happening in mainstream tequila, and because it genuinely confuses people in a blind pour, which is a decent recommendation on its own.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    1800 Añejo Tequila

We stock it because añejo is the argument against treating tequila as a shot. This is a bottle to pour into a glass and leave alone.

  • Jalisco, Mexico · Mexico

    Tequila Blu

We stock it because there needs to be something between the mixing tequilas and the premium names. Not every tequila customer wants to spend a hundred dollars.

  • Tequila, Jalisco · Mexico

    Jose Cuervo Especial Reposado

We stock it for the same reason - it is familiar, it is asked for, and it does its job in a mixed drink. Just know it is not the same category as the 100% agave bottles on the shelf next to it.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    Sierra Tequila Reposado

We stock it because it is the familiar bottle for a familiar job. If the Silver is what goes into the round of margaritas, this is what goes into the one you make more carefully.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    1800 Reposado Tequila

We stock it because reposado is where most people find the tequila they actually like. Blanco can be sharp and añejo can be expensive; this sits in between and suits both sipping and mixing.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    1800 Coconut

We stock it because it does one thing well - it makes a very easy drink with soda and lime - and because we would rather tell you what it is than let the shelf position imply otherwise.

  • Jalisco · Mexico

    1800 Silver Tequila

We stock it because 100% agave at this price is not a given - a great deal of tequila at the same money is mixto - and the label tells you which you are buying.
