Why we stock it

Grange is the wine Max Schubert made against his employer's instructions in the 1950s, and it has been Australia's benchmark red ever since.

We stock it because Grange is the most searched Australian wine there is. Whatever else is on the list, customers check whether Grange is on it.

Delivery Sydney metro. Same-day dispatch on orders placed before 2pm.

Grange is the wine Max Schubert began making in 1951 against the instructions of his employer, and it remains Australia's benchmark. It is a multi-region, multi-vineyard shiraz matured in new American oak — a deliberately Australian answer to Bordeaux rather than an imitation of it.

Dense, concentrated and built for the long haul: dark fruit, chocolate, coffee and cedar over tannins that need years to unwind. Most releases will improve for decades. If you open one young, decant it well ahead.

    Rawson's Retreat Shiraz Cabernet

We stock it because it is number six in the state and because it does the same job as the Koonunga Hill blend several dollars lower, which is a question customers ask directly.

    Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz

We stock it because it is the red more people in New South Wales buy than any other, and because it is the cheapest bottle on this shelf carrying a name that means something to a winemaker as well as to a shopper.

    Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet

We stock it because shiraz cabernet is an Australian idea before it is anyone else's, and because this bottle is number five in the state while the two single varieties are one and three - the customers are not choosing between them, they are buying all of them.

    Hardys VR Shiraz 1L

We stock it because it is number three in ALM's national still red segment with 1.38% share, up from fourth last year. A litre of drinkable shiraz at this price has a permanent audience.
