BenRiach mature the Original Ten in three cask types at once - bourbon, sherry and virgin oak - which is unusual at this age and this price.

We stock it because it delivers more complexity than a ten year old Speyside usually manages, and because BenRiach are one of the distilleries doing genuinely interesting work without charging for the reputation.

Speyside single malt matured across three separate cask types — bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak — then brought together. The three-way maturation is what gives The Original Ten its breadth.

Orchard fruit and honey from the bourbon casks, dried fruit from the sherry, and a sweet vanilla-and-spice edge from the virgin oak. Approachable without being simple.
