Why we stock it

The most divisive bottle we sell, and deliberately so. Iodine, tar, seaweed and an antiseptic bite that people either fall for immediately or never make peace with.

We stock the 10 because Laphroaig does not compromise to be liked, and a shop that only carried whisky everyone agrees on would be a duller shop. Try it before you commit to a bottle.

Distilled at Port Ellen on Islay's south coast, where the barley is dried over peat cut from the distillery's own beds and the spirit is matured in ex-bourbon barrels.

Medicinal, almost antiseptic peat smoke, seaweed and brine, with sweet vanilla underneath holding it together. Laphroaig is a whisky people take to immediately or never — it makes no attempt to meet the drinker halfway, and that is precisely the reason for its following.
