Why we stock it

Estate-grown Clare Valley fruit from a family who bought the Auburn vineyard in 1969 and still run it, matured in French and American oak.

We stock it because it is the highest-ranked single-region red in the state that is not owned by one of the two big groups, and because Clare shiraz tastes of somewhere in a way that a South Eastern Australia blend cannot.

Quantity

Delivery Sydney metro. Same-day dispatch on orders placed before 2pm.

Taylors have been growing shiraz in the Clare Valley since 1969, and the Estate range is the label that made their name. Clare gives shiraz a firmer, more structured shape than the warmer South Australian regions.

Dark plum and blackberry with pepper and a savoury, earthy edge, carried on fine-grained tannins. It drinks well now but will hold a few years if you want it to soften further. Pairs with lamb, slow-cooked beef, or anything off the grill.

    Hardys VR Shiraz 1L

We stock it because it is number three in ALM's national still red segment with 1.38% share, up from fourth last year. A litre of drinkable shiraz at this price has a permanent audience.

    Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz

We stock it because the fine Australian red range cannot be all Barossa and Coonawarra. Graveyard is the Hunter's entry in that conversation, and it is the wine Hunter drinkers come looking for by name.

    d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz

We stock it because McLaren Vale deserves a place in the fine shiraz range alongside Barossa and Clare, and at this price Dead Arm is one of the best-value serious reds on the list.
