Why we stock it

Cask strength, non-chill filtered, straight from first-fill Oloroso butts, and bottled in batches that each come out slightly differently. This is Aberlour with nothing taken out.

We stock it because it is the most honest whisky in the Speyside section. Add water to taste - at this strength that is not a suggestion, it is part of the drink. Check the batch number; they are not the same.

A'bunadh is Gaelic for of the origin, and the whisky is made the way Aberlour would have been made before modern production: matured entirely in Oloroso sherry butts, bottled at cask strength, without chill-filtration or added colour. Each batch is numbered and slightly different from the last.

Intense and undiluted — dark fruit, Christmas cake, bitter chocolate and a long, spiced finish. Water is not optional so much as expected; add it gradually and the whisky opens out in stages.

    Two more years than the 12, in the same double-cask arrangement, and the difference is in the weight rather than the flavour - more sherry, a longer finish, less of the youthful sharpness.
