The range

New This Month

The most recent additions to the range, newest first. The list turns over as stock arrives, so what is on this page today will not be the same in a month.

At the moment it is weighted towards the top of the cellar: prestige Champagne in Krug Vintage, Dom Pérignon Rosé and Deutz Amour de Deutz; Tuscan reds from San Polo and Poggio al Tesoro; and single-vineyard Australian shiraz from Brokenwood and Kaesler.

The other end is here too, which is deliberate — Olmeca Altos tequila, Bundaberg Underproof, St Agnes brandy, Wolf Blass tawny and Sheep Dog peanut butter whiskey. New arrivals are not only the expensive ones.

15bottles. Every one with a reason written against it.

  • South Australia

Wolf Blass Red Label Tawny 750ml

We stock it because it is number three in ALM's wine-other segment with 4.40% share, up from fourth last year. Tawny has a loyal and badly under-served audience.

  • South Eastern Australia

    Hardys VR Shiraz 1L

We stock it because it is number three in ALM's national still red segment with 1.38% share, up from fourth last year. A litre of drinkable shiraz at this price has a permanent audience.

  • South Eastern Australia

    Banrock Station Moscato 1L

We stock it because it is number two in ALM's national moscato segment with 9.28% share, held from last year. Moscato buyers shop by brand and by format, and this is the litre answer.

  • Renmark, South Australia

    St Agnes VS Brandy 150ml

We stock it because it is number two in ALM's other-spirits segment with 8.42% share, steady year on year. The small format reaches a customer the 700ml never does.

  • Australia

    Divas VKAT Original 700ml

We stock it because it is number one in ALM's wine-other segment with 7.65% share, held year on year. It sells on price and format, and the demand for it is consistent.

  • Los Altos, Jalisco · Mexico

    Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila 700ml

We stock it because it is number three in ALM's national tequila segment with 8.18% share, up from fourth last year. Tequila is the fastest-moving spirit category and this is the workhorse in it.

    700 mL38.0%21.0 std

    $80.99

  • Queensland

    Bundaberg Underproof Rum 700ml

We stock it because it is number two in ALM's national dark rum segment with 13.36% share, steady on last year. Dark rum is a brand-loyal category and Bundy is the brand.

    700 mL37.0%20.0 std

    $64.99

  • Hunter Valley, New South Wales

    Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz

We stock it because the fine Australian red range cannot be all Barossa and Coonawarra. Graveyard is the Hunter's entry in that conversation, and it is the wine Hunter drinkers come looking for by name.

  • Champagne · France

Champagne Deutz Amour de Deutz Brut Millesime 2011

We stock it because the prestige champagne shelf should not be only three houses deep. Deutz sells on what is in the bottle rather than on the strength of its label, which is exactly why it belongs here.

  • Champagne · France

    Dom Perignon Rose

We stock it because it is the top of the gifting range. At this price the buyer is not comparing bottles, and there are perhaps three names that qualify.

    $971.99

  • Champagne · France

    Krug Vintage

We stock it because vintage Krug is close to the top of what can be bought in champagne. It sells rarely, and it sells to people who know exactly what they are asking for.
